Take a moment
I’m told I need to blog more about improv…
Improv is wonderful! It’s explorative, imaginative, and has real world applications. But it can also become consuming.
Improv informs most decisions I make in my life and how I structure my schedule. I’ve been doing this for years. But lately, I’ve been overdoing it just…a tad.
Over the past two weeks, I’ve been cramming in so many improv related projects (in conjunction with an over abundance of day-job work), that I’ve been running myself ragged. I haven’t been able to get much sleep, eat properly, or make time for my own mental health space.
And guess what happend then?
I lost focus.
It becomes difficult to concentrate on the matter at hand and analyze the current situation when we’re overly tired & stretched too thin.
I started missing vital information, and losing mental track of situations. The notes I was offering became redundant and muddled. My mental concentration became labored and dull, and I had a hard time articulating my point.
In short, take time out for you! Play with a puppy!
Also…take an improv class.
